4G Data Service Label
This is a proposed label for the much talked about 4G service. It reconciles the 100Mbps claims with what we are likely to experience. At one point it was hoped by UK policy makers that 4G would play a key role in fullfilling a universal broadband service. It certainly has a role to play but these predicted user experience graphs shows that it would be difficult to support mission critical services using this media only. Better to use all available resources, with mobile as just one way to create the UK data transport network needed.
The labels also show why it would be better if Mobile network operators were forced to pool spectrum and networks, and offer wholesale services to all retail operators on an equivalent basis.
Latency and quality attenuation information will be added later.
